About
Elizabeth Moon
Licensed Massage Therapist
Elizabeth Moon brings a sensitive and observant approach to massage therapy at Caladrius Bodywork. Before transitioning into wellness, she spent over 15 years in both strategic business development and portrait photography. Passionate about delivering portraits to her clients that made them feel their very best, she often noticed men and women holding quite a bit of tension in their faces, which altered their appearance and inevitably showed in their portraits. Having casually acquired her own do-it-yourself connective tissue techniques, she frequently improved client satisfaction by offering impromptu tutorials for the quick release of facial muscles right there on the studio stool, between poses. Most were willing to give it a try and voilà!, their brighter, more relaxed smiles could now shine through in their headshots.
After these and numerous other personal experiences with bodywork and somatic modalities, she pivoted her career to help others on the same journey. She recently completed a rigorous 750-hour clinical LMT program, distinguishing herself by graduating with a 104 cumulative average.
Elizabeth's practical, client-focused approach is rooted in her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She actively listens to complex problems, gathering detailed information and thoughtfully responding. Her personal style centers on bodywork designed to genuinely transform how clients live in their bodies.
Driven by a profound curiosity for life and overall wellness, Elizabeth loves to help people detect and translate the subtle (or not so subtle!) messages that our bodies provide, helping connect our unconscious and conscious awareness for meaningful relief. Elizabeth can often be found experimenting in her sunroom art studio or walking along trails with her three children and Boston terrier. Based in Virginia, Elizabeth is devoted to the embodied vibrancy of her clients throughout the greater Washington DC area.
The name
Why "Caladrius"
In Roman legend — and later in the illuminated bestiaries of medieval Europe — the caladrius was a snow-white bird kept at the bedsides of the sick. The story goes that if the bird met the patient's gaze, it would draw the illness up out of them, carry it away, and release it into the sun.
